The First Flight Out celebrates the aviation history of Pan American World Airways. From their Dinner Key Terminal, still located in Coconut Grove and serving as City Hall, Pan Am revolutionized air-travel by offering Flying Clipper service to Latin America at a time when paved runways were not widely available in the region. Miami’s Coconut Grove played a major role in Pan Am’s climb to become the world’s premier airline.
Note: The First Flight Out is temporarily closed as CocoWalk is renovated. We will announce our reopening date as soon as possible. We would highly suggest a visit to the Pan Am Museum in Garden City, New York which presents Pan Am exhibits in their breathtaking, world-class facility.
Also, if you’re in the Miami area, you won’t want to miss a visit to the Airplane Shop near Miami International Airport.
Former employees of Pan Am have generously shared memorabilia, uniforms and their first-hand stories of what life was like at Pan Am with all who’ve visit The First Flight Out.
