Stop by the hotel’s Downton Abbey stage in the lobby for a pre or post afternoon tea photo. Georgie*, Fairmont’s Canine Ambassador, stops by daily.  Labradors Pharaoh and Isis were the Crawley’s favorite Canines over the years.  Now, Georgie is hoping to audition for the role.     Executive Chef Jordi Gallardo and his team are preparing savory and sweet afternoon tea fare in the style of the Lords and Ladies of Downton Abbey:

Savory

Smoked Salmon with Cucumber, Herb Cream Cheese; Roast Beef with Horseradish, Watercress; Turkey with Brie, Cranberry Jam & English Pea Salad in Savory Tart

Sweet

Cranberry Scones & Devonshire Cream; Rooftop Honey Almond Tea Cake;
Flourless Chocolate Tart; Fruit Tart & Lemon Macaron

Fairmont has partnered with Lot 35 Tea Company to curate a variety of black, green and herbal teas including Organic Egyptian Chamomile, Something Sweet with cacao beans, coffee, caramel and chocolate, Organic Gold Jasmine Dragon and Organic Oregon Mint.

In September, Downton Abbey Afternoon Tea will be served in Juniper Restaurant on Fridays and Saturdays from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Tea is offered at $46 per person, $58 including Chandon Brut or Brut Rosé and $65 including Moȅt & Chandon Imperial Brut. Guests are encouraged to dress for the occasion and to pose for photos.  For reservations please call 202-457-5020.

*Georgie, a yellow Labrador puppy, was born on August 17, 2018 at Guiding Eyes for the Blind, with the aspiration of one day becoming a guide dog.  However, she was found to be way too friendly for that role.  Luckily, Mark Huntley the hotel’s general manager, knew she was better suited for the hospitality industry.  She spends her time in the lobby and courtyard greeting guests, visitors and holding special events.  Georgie is also currently in training to become a certified therapy dog.
